Trump Media is launching a paid data feed that hands trading firms early access to the president’s posts, and Wall Street is already lining up to buy in.
Trump Media & Technology Group will roll out “Truth API” on August 1, a subscription service that pushes posts from ten of Truth Social’s most influential accounts to paying clients faster than the app’s own notifications. The company says customers have already signed on.
The Details
The feed covers ten heavy-hitter accounts, including Trump’s own, plus his sons Donald Jr. and Eric, and allies like Dan Bongino and Sean Hannity. Subscribers get round-the-clock delivery and access to an archive stretching back to 2022. TMTG says firms have been scraping this data illegally for months, and the new API is meant to shut that down. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn called it a fresh, ongoing revenue stream for a company that’s struggled to compete with bigger social platforms.
Market Reaction
Trump’s posts have moved markets before – his April 2025 announcement pausing new tariffs sent stocks surging within minutes. Fund manager Mark Spiegel put it bluntly: Trump is the one poster on the platform whose words reliably swing prices.
Why It Matters
Speed is everything in algorithmic trading, and this gives paying firms a head start over everyone else. Legal experts say that’s not against the rules, even if it feels lopsided. Senator Ron Wyden has already blasted the plan, arguing it lets the Trump family cash in while giving Wall Street an unfair edge.
Keep an eye on August 1, when Truth API goes live, and on whether regulators or lawmakers push back before then.
